Making a rebrand actually usable

I'd worked at EVBox full-time for years—learned their product, their team, their quirks from the inside. So when they got their rebrand approved (these things take time at a company operating across 70+ countries), I got the chance to help implement it, now as a freelancer. Following their brand refresh, I developed and implemented new marketing assets across various channels to enhance their brand presence.

Here's the thing about international B2B companies: they need their brands to work *everywhere*. A system that looks sharp on a booth wall at an energy conference needs to also work on a tiny Instagram ad. Assets built for enterprise sales teams need to feel equally at home in consumer-facing campaigns.

EVBox operates in that messy middle ground—they sell charging infrastructure to businesses, but those businesses serve consumers. They're technical but need to feel approachable. They're a heritage brand in a brand-new industry. Every touchpoint is a balancing act.

The system works because it doesn't try to control everything—it sets up guardrails and then gets out of the way. EVBox's team can create materials without waiting for designer approval. The brand shows up consistently whether it's a trade show in Bordeaux or a pitch deck in Oslo. It's one thing to design a beautiful brand. It's another to design one that a 500-person company can actually use across dozens of countries without it falling apart.
We started by identifying the contexts where EVBox's brand needed to perform: trade shows, digital marketing, sales presentations, internal communications, partner materials. Each had different requirements, different audiences, different constraints. But they all needed to feel unmistakably EVBox. The solution was a modular system paired with clear hierarchies and flexible layouts. Typography and color did the heavy lifting to maintain consistency, while layout templates gave their team structure without feeling restrictive.
